Huntsville is about three-to four hours from Atlanta. It’s known as the Rocket City, but it offers so much more. Especially for outdoor families. Here are our top picks for Huntsville, AL. 
Early Works Children’s History Museum – This is a fantastic museum for young kids! What an incredible introduction into Alabama – and US – history! I am head over heels for this museum, and so are my boys. I only wish I had planned my schedule so that we could have stayed longer. Monte Sano Nature Preserve – You cannot visit Huntsville without exploring the wonders of the Land Trust. I highly recommend the Wildflower Trail (and I cannot wait to return to Huntsville to try the other trails.) Go explore on your own, or give them a call if you want to explore a little deeper. Fairfield Inn by Marriott Huntsville – The hotel staff is extremely friendly, the hotel is spacious and clean, and the pool is serious fun. This is a great home-base for exploring Huntsville!
Huntsville Historic Depot – You can’t stop in Huntsville without coming here, especially if you have transportation-lovers like I do. It is a fun place to let off some “steam.” The kids can learn new things while playing pretend in the toddler room, or hanging with the “big guys” in the building with real, antique cars. Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center – I’m a firm believer in making learning exciting and entertaining. Sci-Quest did just that for my boys. We studied geology, computer science, anatomy, chemistry, and much more….and my guys were oblivious! They just thought we were having fun! US Space & Rocket Center – This is a top-quality space museum with so much to offer! The history (and the future) of space exploration can be found here. I was in awe at the number of one-of-a-kind exhibits. We want to return to the Space and Rocket Center to explore more thoroughly, but in our short overview, we all gave it two thumbs up and a big high-five!
